How Listening To Yourself Enhances Confidence and Personal Growth

We are all familiar with forgetting to prioritise our own needs. We get so caught up in our daily routines and responsibilities that we forget to check in with ourselves and listen to the messages our body is sending us. However, it's important to remember that when we meet our own needs, we feel heard and empowered.

The first step is to start listening to the messages your body is sending you. This means being aware of your physical and emotional sensations, and recognizing when your body is telling you that it needs something. For example, if you're feeling tired, it might be a sign that your body needs rest. If you're feeling anxious, it might be a sign that you need to take some time to relax and de-stress.

Once you've identified what our body needs, the next step is to meet those needs moment to moment. This means taking action to address your needs as soon as you become aware of them. For example, if you're feeling hungry, take the time to eat a nourishing meal. If you're feeling stressed, take a break and do something that helps you relax, such as deep breathing or stretching.

It's important to remember that meeting your own needs isn't selfish, it's necessary. When you feel stressed you must change your course of action as soon as is possible. Meeting your own needs changes your course of action and leads you to the next thing you can do for yourself, it’s a clue of what to do next...

1. Taking a break from work to go for a walk:

Let's say you're feeling overwhelmed and stressed out at work. You take a moment to listen to your body, and you realize that you need to move your body and get some fresh air. So, you take a break from work and go for a walk around the block. During your walk, you start to feel more relaxed and clear-headed. This prompts you to take the next action, which might be to prioritize your workload and delegate some tasks to other team members.

2. Drinking a glass of water:

Sometimes, when we're feeling off or not quite ourselves, it can be a sign that we're dehydrated. So, you take a moment to listen to your body and realize that you're feeling thirsty. You fill up a glass of water and drink it, which helps you feel more energized and focused. This prompts you to take the next action, which might be to prioritize self-care and make sure you're staying hydrated throughout the day.
When we meet our own needs and learn to feel heard, it can lead to a sense of empowerment and improved overall well-being.

When you take the time to listen to your body and meet your own needs, you become more in tune with yourself. You start to recognize patterns and triggers that may have previously gone unnoticed. When you prioritize your own needs and take action to meet them, you start to feel more confident in yourself and your abilities. You learn that you are capable of taking care of yourself, and this can translate to increased confidence in other areas of your life as well.

3. Improved relationships:

When you feel heard and empowered, you are better equipped to communicate your needs to others. This can lead to improved relationships with friends, family, and co-workers.

It's important to note that having faith in receiving what you ask for and feeling heard doesn't necessarily mean that everything will always go as planned or that we will never face challenges or difficulties. However, it does mean that you can trust that there is a higher purpose and can draw on your inner resources and guidance to overcome obstacles and navigate life's ups and downs.

So take the time to reflect on your own needs, listen to your inner voice, and act on what your body is telling you. It may be difficult at first but it does get easier and the rewards are well worth the effort.
