A Self-Help Activity by Zoe Davis Shift Your Feelings In An Instant!Uncomfortable feelings are really just temporary sensations that will flow and change as soon as we allow it. When we hold on to an emotion, often thinking that we can master it, we actually suppress it and make it a habitual feeling that ends up controlling us.
Here are 5 simple steps to shifting your feelings and taking charge of your emotions, in as little as a few minutes! If an uncomfortable feeling keeps going around and around in your head or your body, try these simple steps. Step 1. Admit that you are feeling uncomfortable and let yourself feel it. Detach from the stress around you and really feel what you are feeling. Feel where it is in your body. Is it in your belly, your chest or you throat? Lovingly place your hands on the part of your body that is holding on. Breathe and relax with it. Get real with yourself and say aloud, "I feel... (the feeling)". Be aware of saying "I feel", rather than "I am". For example, "I feel angry" is different to "I am angry". Angry isn't who you are, it's just how you may feel. Say "I feel, etc...", at least 3 times or until you feel a shift in awareness, accept the feeling and sit with it and breathe. It's okay, remember it's just a feeling. Step 2. Picture the negative feeling leaving your body. Calmly visualise the unhelpful feeling dissolving and releasing, and moving easily down through your legs and out through your toes. Let the feeling flow down through your arms and out of your finger tips. Then allow the emotion to rise up and out through the crown of your head. Breathe and release. Step 3. Decide how you want to feel instead. When you are shifting a negative emotion you basically want to feel the opposite of that emotion. If the unpleasant feeling you have is anger, then it's opposite would probably be acceptance. If you are experiencing anxiety, then it's opposite might be peace. What is the opposite of the sensation you are releasing? That is actually how you want to feel and it's time to welcome that positive emotion in to your life. Step 4. Breathe positive energy in. Visualise the positive feeling you want as a healing energy that is all around you, breathe this healing energy in through your FEET, up through your whole body and out through your CROWN. Repeat for at least 5 breaths or until you feel a shift. Then visualise breathing the healing energy in through your CROWN, down through your whole body and down and out through your FEET. Repeat for at least 5 breaths or until a shift occurs. Step 5. Practice letting good energy continually flow through you. Regularly practice letting your feelings flow. Be aware of any bad feelings as soon as they arise and deal with them as soon as possible. Don't get good at feeling bad! It's a habit you don't want to be putting your energy into anymore. Develop a habit of dissolving and releasing anything that isn't serving you and notice that when you focus your energy on attracting what you want that you immediately have a feeling of peace, love and lightness.
