An energy update for the Virgo new moon of September 2018

On September 9th and 10th we have a new moon and sun in the sign of Virgo, as we continue to explore the earth element this month; we continue learning the art of steady progress.
As we go into the change of season, this is a time of laying down foundations for long term, positive habits, particularly around health, perhaps looking more into the details of your routines and behaviors and questioning why you do what you do.
If you ask yourself about the motives of your own behaviour, you will realise very quickly that you actually know the answer. The question then is what don’t you like about the answer? Does it trigger your ego? Does it mean that you have to change your approach, admit defeat or back down from your ideals? Beware of self sabotage by stubbornness, embrace flexibility as a virtue.
The influence of Neptune at the time of this new moon is challenging us to not believe everything we believe. Things that are presented as fact may not necessarily be true; it is easy to be swept up in illusion, mystery and intrigue. It would be wise to ‘float your beliefs’ at this time, just because you’ve always believed something, is it true?
There will be many who will take advantage of this vague energy, consciously or unconsciously, make sure you have all of the facts before making any big decisions or purchases, better still, wait a while. Anything worthy that is offered at this time will be available again, don’t let yourself get sucked into a false sense of urgency, being patient will serve you well right now.
Things will appear more solid in the weeks to come, but the lesson from this time of possible confusion is to question everything and everyone’s intentions, including your own. What you think you are striving for may not actually be what you need. What you have always done may not be the best way, or the only way. There is time to explore alternatives, and there are infinite alternatives being created each and every moment!
New opportunities are coming this month, particularly if you have been doing the work on yourself and your finances. The beauty of what’s coming in will simply ‘feel good’ and that is the barometer of what actions you can take. If it doesn’t feel good, don’t try and make it work in your head or on paper. Long term commitments will benefit from how good you feel before you embark on it. Trust your gut and realise there’s no point in over reaching; you’re allowed to feel good with everything that you do, at a pace that works for you.
There isn’t much fire and air around right now; it’s mostly earth and water, so you can make the most of this by taking your time, pacing yourself and trusting your feelings.
This is a time of tuning into your deeper needs, listening to your body and giving it what it’s asking for, without delay. Eat when you're hungry, sleep when you're tired, move when your restless, look after yourself. The more you practice meeting your own needs, the more you get used to feeling heard, supported and abundant.
Be aware of where you might be depriving yourself or missing out because you are aiming for perfection or think you don’t have the time or the energy, or maybe you don’t feel worthy or deserving of having your needs met.
Put yourself first by giving yourself what you need, be honest and responsible with yourself. Practice the habit of giving yourself love, compassion and joy, reward your successes, let yourself play and kick your butt when you know you need to step it up!
